Explorations in oil

For the last four or five weeks I've been working on a fairly large scale painting. I thought I'd share a snapshot of the process.

On the left is a photoshopped image that I created by photographing my own ceramic pieces and manipulating it with some other photos I had taken in the past.

On the right is a 80" tall wooden panel (a door, actually) with my oil painting in its current unfinished form.

I love the flexibility and plasticity that oil paint provides, but it is also SO MESSY. I wear a specific outfit to the studio and I leave every day with paint everywhere.

This has been a really fun piece for me and I'm excited to finish it.
